Nabeul is a Mediterranean city with a millennial culture. The residence city of Nabeul governorate and heir of the ancient and glorious "Neapolis", it is situated on the Eastern coast of Tunisia, near the island of Cap Bon, 63 km from the capital Tunis and to 10 km of well-known resort Hammamet.
Since sec. XVIII-XIX, Nabeul has achieved progressively through the core structure of quasi-permanent or Mdina el Arab, which is preserved today. This was achieved through a large number of works of architecture built over the years, either in a spontaneous manner or in a highly organized. There are still today most of these monuments, which are fundamental benchmarks for the city of Nabeul.
Somewhat later, the sixteenth century, in Nabeul began to practice the art of ceramics.
Nabeulian traditional pottery resembles aghlabidh old. Basic colors are found here as well as brown and green on a yellow background. Reasons, often rustic and linear, are drawn with brown and outlined in green. Nabeul is known for its polychrome tile, which resembles maroccan pottery from Fez, explaining the similarity is the common origin, andalusian, the masters of Nabeul and Fez.
